Thank you note from president Nixon and Ryan guarding AF1.
The St Peter Knights would like to recognize Ryan Bielski as Knight of Month.
Ryan was raised in New Bedford, Mass in a good Catholic family environment before he enlisted in the Air Force. Along with serving as a guard in Vietnam, Ryan had the honor of guarding Air Force 1 during the Nixon years. His most memorable times were being asked by the pilot to ride along while it sat dormant.
The Air Force brought him to Homestead FL, where he served at a base. Homestead is famous for the destruction that Hurricane Andrew did. Ryan, always wanting to be in the thick of things, road out Andrew while he was in its eye.
After leaving the Air Force, Ryan spent his working life as a substation electrician for FPL's nuclear plant. He eventually moved into the Jupiter area following very close family friends, and remembers going to mass in the church hall. It didn’t take long for his giving instincts to take over. It all started with Food for Families, and then crept into ushering and landscaping. Ryan even volunteered to work for our local police and was recognized as Volunteer of the Year for his service hours. He worked at St Vincent de Paul and eventually found his way into the Knights of Columbus. He is even getting to be known by our church staff for his cooking skills. Join us in congratulating Ryan. We are glad he is with us for sure.
