Business (General) Meeting


July 21, 2020

Note: Minutes of our Business Meetings are supplied to all members of the council for review and comment. The minutes will not be read at the next regular meeting unless requested by a member. Please direct all corrections and additions to Bill Sodan dd66billsodan@gmail.com.


NOTE - This was a “stay at home” meeting conducted over ZOOM.

Pre – Meeting. INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS

The Installation of Officers was conducted by the Worthy District Deputy 65, bill Van Keuren. Reverend Wesler Hilaire, Council Chaplain, also participated in the ceremony.


Officers Roll Call

All Officers were present. Positions of Deputy Grand Knight and Lecturer are open.

No official report was given because of the installation ceremony.

Guests and Dignitaries

The District Deputy Bill Van Keuren, Field Agent Jonathan Knaus and Regional Administrator Bill Sodan were present.

The Council received a letter from Food For Families (FFF), thanking the council for its donations to the program. The Grand Knight (GK) also pointed out that Food FFF also posted a note in the parish bulletin, thanking the Knights for their involvement and ongoing support for FFF.

The Regional Administrator sent a note to the council for members who came out to assist in the recent supply shipment which was donated to Catholic Charities and the St. Vincent de Paul Society (SVDP). SVDP donations support local food distributions, such as FFF.

GK reported he had a conversation with the Florida State Advocate, Robert Rasch, regarding alcohol liability. GK was disappointed he did not get a new, definitive answer on the policy. But the Advocate that GK could call a contact at Lofton Agency, the insurance broker company.

GK reported there are still open positions and the council needs Brother to step up and fill these positions: Deputy Grand Knight, Lecturer, Faith Chairman, Life Chairman.

PROGRAMS:

The Bartalini Family was selected and Family of the Month.

Reverend Wesler Hilaire was selected as Knight of the Month for his involvement with the recent Silver rose service.

FFF: Brother Lou Manz and GK brought up that there are volunteers needed at FFF. These are not the Saturday weekly distribution. Assisted is needed for volunteers to get the donated cards and go to local stores to make purchases and return them. These purchases can be done anytime during the week and then dropped off to the FFF site or the parish office. See Lou or GK for more information.


FUND RAISING: The council made a spinning wheel for its Night at the Races program. With Lou relocating, someone needs to store the wheel. Contact Lou or GK for more information.


PROGRAMS: Lou had developed a council planner for the previous fraternal year. GK published a new one this year. Lou has also prepared a list of tasks which will need to be accomplished and members will be contacted regarding taking roles in some of these activities.


FOURTH DEGREE. The next 4th Degree meeting is Tuesday, 7/28.

An Exemplification for members to join the 4th Degree will take place on August 22 in Jacksonville. Contact GK, the District Deputy or Regional Administrator for more information to be able to advance.


FIELD AGENT REPORT: FA briefly talked about the new fraternal year. During this, the council was advised of the requirement to conduct two Benefits Nights during the year.


DISTRICT DEPUTY REPORT: DD summarized the Organizational Meeting held on July 10-11. DD reported the council’s membership goal was reduced by Supreme to 7 new members.


REGIONAL ADIMINSTRATOR: RA congratulated the council on the excellent results the council achieved during the 2019-20 fraternal year. These results are certainly achievable again this year. He also advised the council of some of the changes to the Faith in Action program, which include new FIA programs and the elimination of a required program in each category. Finally, while encouraging members to step up to take Chairman roles to help drive these programs, he recognized GK and Lou Manz for their outstanding leadership during the past Fraternal Year.
