This brother has been a Knight for 17 years and remains actively involved. He was born in Evanston, IL and is one of the middle children of eight siblings. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1986 with a degree in Business Administration. He created his own company and worked it for nine years until he sold it and moved with his wife Paula Dufrenne to Orlando FL. The couple moved to Jupiter to live close to the Roger Dean Stadium, where he could watch the St. Louis Cardinals Spring Training. His baseball “heart” lies with his Cardinals and his Cubs.
Michael and Paula attended St. Peter Catholic Church where Michael became engaged with the Knights of Columbus. Tragically, he lost Paula to cancer in 2005. Michael remarried in December of 2016 to Lyda Marcela. They remain faithful parishioners of St. Peter.
Michael has served as Treasurer of the Council since 2003, except for the two years that he served as Grand Knight of the Council in 2015-2017. He has been a Sir Knight of the John Paul II Assembly 3299 since 2006 and has served as its Faithful Purser since 2013.
Michael takes his jobs as Treasurer and Faithful Purser seriously and watches over spending while keeping meticulous records. He handles the cash collections at our monthly Family Fellowship Breakfast and helps at the Parish picnic and other Parish and Council events.
He has been a frontline resource in our relationship with the Town of Jupiter and its public events that the Council hosts a beverage concession; a major fundraiser for the Council in the past. The other significant role he plays involves his beloved Cardinals. He has been the key contact with Roger Dean Stadium where the Council operates a concession stand for a percentage of the revenue and tips. This year Michael did a stellar job of coordinating the Council’s volunteer efforts, resulting in record income for the Council, in spite of the pandemic-shortened season.
For his efforts during this year’s Spring Training Concession Operation and his valuable efforts throughout his service to the Parish, the Council, and the community, the Council recognizes Michael J. McReynolds as its Knight of the Month for April 2020.
His award will be presented at an upcoming Council Regular Business Meeting once the pandemic restrictions are lifted.
