Business (General) Meeting

April 21, 2020

Note: Minutes of our Business Meetings are supplied to all members of the council for review and comment. The minutes will not be read at the next regular meeting unless requested by a member. Please direct all corrections and additions to Jim Hildebrand jrpah@comcast.net

NOTE - This was a “stay at home” meeting conducted over ZOOM.

  • Pre - Meeting.

  • Officers Roll Call

  • All Officers were present except for the Chaplain, and Chancellor who were excused, and the Warden, Outside Guard, and 1st Year Trustee who were absent.

  • Chaplain Report -

  • The meeting was opened and closed with a prayer

  • Guests and Dignitaries

  • The Field Agent, and Regional Representative were present.

  • The Council has a virtual (ZOOM) Exemplification this Thursday night 4/23. Four or five candidates are expected to attend.

  • We are talking to Father Don about:

  • having virtual Rosaries for Mothers and Fathers Day.

  • hosting the Silver Rose Icon - the ICON commemorates our Lady of Guadeloupe and is particularly important to the Hispanic community. The Icon will be in our area around June 24th.

  • We plan to have a little ceremony when Gene Primozic’s brick is laid. Gene’s wife Carol will be invited, and we will also recognize Bob Earlston and Deacon John.

  • Officers Meeting Report

  • The following 4/2020 Officer Meeting actions were reported to the Council:

  • Expenditure of $14.99/month for ZOOM meetings.

  • $350 approved for a party for those who helped in the concession stands at Roger Dean Stadium. The party will be held after pandemic restrictions are eased.

The pandemic has created financial hardships in our area. The Council is trying to help address these hardships by donating to the Food for Families and Saint Vincent dePaul ministries in the parish.

  • Council Shirts - Tina Sodan is now set up to embroidery the Council Logo on shirts. Brother Bill Sodan is asking anyone interested in getting a shirt to contact him. He wants to order shirts in quantity in order to take advantage of a quantity discount.

  • Food for Families-

  • Food donation from the County Food Bank to our parish Food Bank are down because of the Pandemic. The Council is donating money to FFF to help address the shortfall. Supreme offers up to $500 in rebates on donations make to Food Banks. (See motions).

  • The assembly is conducting meetings virtually on ZOOM. Brother Manz will check into splitting the cost with the assembly.

  • Field agents can conduct SKYPE meetings with clients.

  • Virtual Fraternal Benefits Nights are being considered.

  • Motions - Brother Manz moved, and Brother Hildebrand Seconded a motion to donate $200 to the Parish “Food For Families” Ministry. Passed. (This money is in the Budget and a check can be written now).

  • Motion - Brother Manz moved, and Brother Bielski seconded a motion that we donate $1500 to the Parish St Vincent dePaul ministry. Passed This is a budgeted item and does not need to be aired for two meetings.

  • Motion - Brother Manz moved and Brother Bielski seconded a motion to donate $2000 to the Parish Food For Families ministry, and that the ministry chair be contacted to determine the best way to distribute the funds. This motion is for more that $500, and must be aired for two meetings. It will be voted on at the May Business Meeting.
