Business (General) Meeting

Nov 19, 2019

Note: Minutes of our Business Meetings are supplied to all members of the council for review and comment. The minutes will not be read at the next regular meeting unless requested by a member. Please direct all corrections and additions to Jim Hildebrand jrpah@comcast.net

  • Pre - Meeting.

  • Officers Roll Call

  • All Officers were present except for the Chaplain, and Inside Guard who were excused.

  • Chaplain Report -

  • The meeting was opened and closed with a prayer

  • Guests and Dignitaries

  • The Field Agent, District Deputy, and Regional Representative were present.

  • Grand Knight Report:

  • Correspondence:

  • We received a note asking if we are going to supply pins at the “Our Lady of Guadeloupe” celebration (we have in the past, at a discount price rate that is no longer available). Brother Bill Sodan will determine current pin cost and the Officers will take an e-mail vote to see if we want to buy them this year.

  • We received an invitation to the recording of the Cathedral Christmas Mass on 12/11.

  • Report:

  • The Grand Knight stressed that we have several activities in the next few weeks, and asked that the Brothers make a special effort to help out. The DGK indicated he will initiate the Calling Committee to spread the word of our activities and the need for help.

  • Officers Meeting Report

  • A motion was passed at the Officers meeting to:

  • purchase 12 buckets for distributing candy at the JTAA Christmas Parade.

  • Financial Secretary Report:

  • Trustees - no report

  • Deputy Grand Knight and Director Reports:

  • The “Sacramental Gifts” cards for RCIA members were circulated and sighed before the meeting.

  • The parish has asked that we help put up the “Singing Christmas Tree” this year. It will be done in four shifts starting Dec 1st. Brother Manz plans to document how the tree is assembled.

  • The last two Patriotic Rosaries were poorly attended by Knights. Brother Manz would like feedback on how we might improve attendance.

  • 150 of 500 distributed “Baby Bottles” were returned last week. We will try to have a message from the pulpit encouraging people to return the bottles.

  • We are supporting the Lady of Guadeloupe celebration on 12/12. The Color Corp is not available, so council members are encouraged to participate by wearing baldrics and participating in the walk from the library to the parish.

  • Our Christmas Party is 12/17. As in the past, we will be joint with the Assembly and the Tequesta Council at St Jude Parish Hall. Volunteer are needed to help with the event. A sign-up sheet was circulated.

  • Father Don has again asked us to be “Greeters” before Christmas Masses. We will not be assisting in passing out books this year.

  • We will be passing out Prayer Cards before Mass on the “Feast of the Holy Family” 12/29. Knights are encouraged to go to their regular mass and sit as a group in front of the choir area. Knights are asked to wear something such as a Knight’s shirt to identify them as a Knight.

  • Faith*:

  • Buffet Breakfast - Next Breakfast is Dec 1st. It will have a Christmas theme.

  • Ministry Appreciation -Ministry Appreciation night is 1/25. We have been asked to supply and serve Beer, Wine and Distilled spirits. Again insurance coverage is a concern, and Leo was told that we do not have coverage and that he will have to obtain it through the Diocese.

  • “Family of the Month” - The following certificates were presented: September - The Colon family, October - The Sodan family

  • JTAA Christmas Parade - Sunday Dec 8. Step-off at 1 PM, please be there by 12:30. Remember an unwrapped toy for the “Toys for Tots” drive. KCIC or any red shirt is desired. A vehicle will be available for anyone that needs to ride. All friends and family are invited to attend.

  • Youth

  • Free Throw Competition-1/22 10:00 AM at All Saints School.

  • Good of the Order:

  • Selected videos of Bishop Sheen were shown.

  • Membership/Retention Report - Lou Manz

  • “Delta Drive” - Scheduled for 12/7&8. A “Ministry Moment” has been recorded for this weekends Masses. The Parish Hall has been reserved for a Dec 3rd Open House/Fraternal Benefits Knight. A sign up sheet was circulated for help with the drive. Parishioners that turn in an interest card will be invited to a free Fellowship Breakfast.

  • Exemplifications

  • A Third Degree is being planned for Feb. at Council 4999.

  • Standing Committees

  • Fund Raising -

  • Roger Dean Stadium -.

  • Jupiter Jubilee - Consensus is that we should pursue this event. Possibility of using an insurance rider on the Diocese policy will be explored.

  • BBQ- Meeting consensus was to use proceeds form the event to again fund Altar Server Scholarships. There was some discussionon how “Beer and Wine” should be handled to be properly covered by insurance. The District Deputy was asked to help resolve. (the question is urgent since we need to print tickets now)

  • 4th Degree Report -

  • Nov 10th wreath presentation for Veterans Day went very well.

  • District Deputy Report -

  • State Raffle tickets have been selling slowly.

  • Field Agent Report -

  • November is “Long Term Care” month.

  • Florida (and others) are in a one year pilot lot program to replace the Council insurance quota with 2 Fraternal Benefits Nights that satisfy the requirement.

  • Motions - Brother Bill Sodan moved, and Brother Davisson seconded a motion to contribute the Dec Family Fellowship 50/50 proceeds to Hannahs House. Passed.

  • Jim Cambier moved and Bill Sodan seconded a motion to donate $250 to the music ministry to help cover costs of their Christmas programs. Passed.
