Bill & Marie Egan Family named Family of the Month for April

This family lives out a mission that reflects the principles of the Knights of Columbus. Bill joined the Knights of Columbus in 1959 as a junior at St. Louis University. Bill and Marie were married in 1963 in Waltham, MA. Bill transferred to Council 4999 when Pratt & Whitney transferred him to Florida in 1970. He worked for Pratt in engineering for 38 years, until his retirement in 2000.

Marie taught physical education at St. Clare and St. Francis Catholic Schools and also worked at St. Anne’s and Pope John Paul High School. After attending Barry University, she became a guidance counselor at Cardinal Newman and was a member of the Diocesan Crisis Team, until she retired in 2005. She was a Virtus Coordinator and volunteered at All Saints Catholic School.

Bill and Marie attended a Cursillo weekend in 1975 and have been active members in the movement for 48 years.

Both were active at St. Clare as Eucharistic Ministers, lectors, and Home & School Association until they moved to Jupiter in 1995. Since that time, they have both been Eucharistic Ministers at St. Peter. Bill is an Altar Server at daily Mass and a lector as needed. He serves on the Finance Committee at St. Peter and does miscellaneous handyman projects. Marie serves as a Eucharistic Minister at daily Mass and at 4:30 p.m. Mass on Saturdays. She assists with the counting at St. Peter on Monday mornings. She volunteers at the Allegro Assisted Living Facility on Wednesdays.

They have six children and ten grandchildren. All six attended St. Clare School and Cardinal Newman High School. For their significant contributions to the parish and the community it serves, the Council recognizes Bill and Marie Egan!
