Officers Meeting

Note: Minutes of our meetings are supplied to all members of the council for review and comment. The minutes will not be read at the next meeting unless requested by a member. Pls direct all corrections and additions to Jim Hildebrand jrpah@comcast.net

  • Roll Call - All Officers were present except for the Outside Guard and 2nd Year Trustee who were absent, and the Advocate, Warden and 3rd Year Trustee who were excused. The Deputy Grand Knight position is open.

  • Chaplain Report:

  • The meeting was opened and closed with a prayer. The Chaplain encouraged Knights to attend the Chrism Mass at the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola at 11 AM on 4/16. Priests and Deacons of the Diocese renew their vows of obedience at the mass.

  • Grand Knight Report:

  • Approved expenses incurred by our delegates to the State Convention are paid by the Council and are included in the budget. However, the state only reimburses the District Deputy for millage to attend. The Officers passed a motion to reimburse Brother Bill Sodan for two nights stay at the convention. (See motions.)

  • The Chancellor will head a nominating committee for officers for the next Fraternal year.

  • Several options, including a Dolphins game bus trip, Roger Dean Stadium game, and college football game are being considered instead of a Council Picnic. The GK and Treasurer will check cost and availability of the Roger Dean venue. We will hold off on a down payment for the Dolphins game until we decide which way to go.

  • Father Don’s ordination party is May 18th. We have been ask to supply and serve wine, beer, soft drinks and water.

  • The GK and entourage has a meeting with Father Don on April 29. Items to discuss include:

  • Support of the Hispanic parishioners desire to build a monument to Our Lady of Guadeloupe.

  • Status of Video to promote Knights to parishioners

  • “Delta Drive” recruiting

  • The Parish Hall is closed to meetings during Holy Week, so our April Business Meeting has been rescheduled to April 23rd.

  • We may change the June Officers meeting to the first Tuesday to accommodate a First Degree. Decision will be made after the Degree is firmed up a little more.

  • Community*-

  • Mercy Bags - The parish has a program to create Mercy Bags for the homeless. This activity was discussed at the last Regular Meeting with opinions on its worth mixed and no action taken (no motion was made). We have since been notified that the Ministry creating the bags are short certain items, and to show support for the ministry, a motion was passed to donate $250 to the effort. (see motions)

  • Friday Night Dance Party -

  • Faith*:

  • Seminarian Support - Brother Davisson suggested that the $100 rebate we received from Supreme for our support of a seminarian be donated to the seminarian. Meet with general approval. Our seminarian is ordained this year, we have a name of a local first year seminarian that we would like to start supporting next year.

  • Council

  • State Convention-

  • Buffet Breakfast - We will take a summer break and not have a Breakfast in July or August. (Recorders Note - Meeting attendees mistakenly believed that the Council took off June and July last year. However, the GK found that we actually took off July and August and has set those months for this years break.)

  • 4th Degree Report -

  • The next greeting of a returning Honor Flight will be this Saturday 4/13 at 8 PM at the airport. It is recommended the one gets there around 7 PM.

  • The 4th Degree Assy. is having a Pot Luck Dinner on 4/30 at 6:30 PM at St. Jude. Council members are invited to attend and are requested to RSVP to Brother Manz. Please bring a side dish or dessert.

  • District Deputy Report -

  • A new membership drive called “Delta Drive” from Supreme is available in our area.

MOTIONS:

  • Brother Davisson moved and Brother Manz seconded a motion to reimburse Brother Sodan for two nights stay at the State Convention (~$250). Passed.

  • Brother Davisson moved and Brother Manz seconded a motion to donate $250 to the “Mercy Bag” project. Passed
